Tohka Yatogami is a high school student who is also a spirit, a being from another world that possesses a human. She was the first spirit to be sealed by Shido Itsuka, the protagonist of the series. Tohka is a kind and gentle girl, but she can also be very destructive when she loses control of her powers. She is also very protective of Shido, and she will do anything to keep him safe. Tohka's backstory is a tragic one. She was born in a world where spirits and humans lived together in peace. However, a war broke out between the two races, and Tohka's parents were killed. Tohka was the only survivor, and she was taken to the human world by a group of scientists who were studying the spirits. The scientists experimented on Tohka, and they eventually turned her into a weapon. They used her to fight against the other spirits, and she killed many of them.
