Thomas "Tom" Canty

Thomas "Tom" Canty was born in 1537, the same day as Edward Tudor, the Prince of Wales. Tom grew up in poverty with his abusive father and grandmother, while Edward lived a life of luxury in the royal court. One day, Tom and Edward meet and exchange clothes. When King Henry VIII dies, Edward is to be crowned king, but Tom is mistaken for him and crowned instead. Tom is about to be crowned king when Edward comes in and proves that he is the rightful king by knowing where the Great Seal of England was. Edward is crowned King Edward VI of England, and names Tom his royal ward. Tom lived to be a very old man, while Edward tragically died at the age of 15.
