The Iron Wolf
The Iron Wolf is a Lithuanian legend about the founding of Vilnius. The story begins with a group of Lithuanians who are being chased by their enemies. They come to a river and are about to be captured when a wolf appears and leads them to safety. The wolf then turns into a man and tells the Lithuanians that he is their ancestor. He tells them that they will one day build a great city on the banks of the river, and that the city will be called Vilnius. The Lithuanians are grateful to the wolf, and they name the city after him.
