Tachikoma
Tachikoma are the spider-like, AI-equipped combat units of Public Security Section 9, the main protagonists of the Ghost in the Shell franchise. They are designed for reconnaissance, surveillance, and combat, and are equipped with a variety of sensors and weapons. Tachikoma are also capable of independent thought and action, and have a strong sense of camaraderie.
The Tachikoma were first introduced in the 1995 anime film Ghost in the Shell. In the film, they are used by Section 9 to investigate a series of murders that are being committed by a mysterious hacker known as the Puppet Master. The Tachikoma quickly become an integral part of the team, and they play a key role in solving the case.
