Siddhartha GAUTAMA
Siddhartha Gautama was born in Lumbini, Nepal, in 563 BCE. He was the son of a king and a queen, and he was raised in a life of luxury. However, at the age of 29, he left his home and family to become a wandering monk.
For six years, Siddhartha Gautama traveled and studied with different teachers, but he was not satisfied with any of their teachings. Finally, he sat down under a bodhi tree and vowed not to rise until he had achieved enlightenment. After meditating for 49 days, he attained enlightenment and became the Buddha, or the Enlightened One.
The Buddha taught that the path to enlightenment is through the practice of the Four Noble Truths:
* All life is suffering.
* The cause of suffering is desire.
* The end of suffering is to extinguish desire.
* The path to the end of suffering is the Noble Eightfold Path.
The Noble Eightfold Path is a set of principles that can help people to live a more ethical and mindful life. It consists of the following eight practices:
* Right view
* Right intention
* Right speech
* Right action
* Right livelihood
* Right effort
