Sumi-iri Osananajimi no Sokubaku ga Tsurai is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Iori Furuya. It was serialized in Square Enix's Gangan Joker magazine from January 2015 to July 2018. The story follows Sumi-iri, a high school student who is in love with her childhood friend, Sokubaku. However, Sokubaku is oblivious to Sumi-iri's feelings and is instead interested in another girl. Sumi-iri decides to become a tattoo artist in order to get closer to Sokubaku. One day, Sumi-iri meets a mysterious man named Kurogane, who is a tattoo artist. Kurogane agrees to teach Sumi-iri how to tattoo, and the two of them start working together. As Sumi-iri learns more about tattooing, she also starts to learn more about herself and her feelings for Sokubaku. Sumi-iri Osananajimi no Sokubaku ga Tsurai is a heartwarming and funny story about love, friendship, and self-discovery. The characters are relatable and the story is easy to follow.
