Shanta was a princess in the kingdom of Anga. She was the adoptive daughter of King Romapada and the wife of Rishi Shrunga. In some versions of the story, she was the daughter of King Dasharatha of Ayodhya who was then adopted by Romapada.
Shanta: Hail, I am Shanta, princess of Anga and wife of Rishi Shrunga.
Romapada: Hail, I am Romapada, king of Anga and adoptive father of Shanta.
Shunga: Hail, I am Shrunga, a rishi and husband of Shanta.
