Shamil VOLKOV
Shamil Volkov is a Russian astronaut who was sent to the moon as part of the Soviet Union's Luna program. He was the first human to set foot on the moon, and he spent two weeks there conducting experiments. After returning to Earth, he was hailed as a hero and awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union medal.
Volkov was born in 1934 in a small village in Russia. He dreamed of becoming an astronaut from a young age, and he studied hard in school. He eventually earned a degree in engineering from Moscow State University.
In 1960, Volkov was selected to be part of the Soviet Union's space program. He underwent rigorous training for several years, and he eventually became one of the most qualified astronauts in the program.
In 1969, Volkov was chosen to be the commander of the Soyuz 11 mission. The mission was a success, and Volkov became the first human to set foot on the moon. He spent two weeks on the moon conducting experiments, and he returned to Earth a hero.
