Ruby Gillis was born and raised in the small town of Avonlea on Prince Edward Island, Canada. She grew up with a love for adventure and a vivid imagination, often getting into mischief with her friends. Ruby was always fascinated by the stories her grandmother would tell her about Anne Shirley, the famous red-haired orphan who had moved to Avonlea many years ago.
