The Akatsuki, a group of elite ninja who operate outside the law, had been hiding in their secret base for weeks. They had just completed a successful mission and were enjoying some well-deserved rest and relaxation. Itachi, the group's leader, was lounging in his chair, reading a book while Konan and Zetsu played a game of chess. Pain was meditating in his room, Kisame and Sasori were discussing their next mission, and Kakuzu was out on a solo mission with Orochimaru.
