R.O.B.

In 1985, Nintendo released the Robotic Operating Buddy, or R.O.B. for short. This toy robot was an accessory for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), and it could be used to play two games: Gyromite and Stack-Up. R.O.B. was a big hit, and it helped to revitalize the video game industry after the crash of 1983. He was also a successful Trojan Horse of marketing, as he helped to convince people that the NES was more than just a video game console - it was a toy experience! R.O.B. is still remembered fondly by many gamers today, and he has even made appearances in other Nintendo games, such as the Super Smash Bros. series.
