Nevada

Nevada is a battleship that served in the United States Navy from 1916 to 1948. She was the lead ship of her class, and was named after the state of Nevada. Nevada was one of the first battleships to be equipped with a dual-purpose main battery, and she saw action in World War I and World War II. Nevada was a powerful battleship, but she was also a very unlucky ship. She was involved in several accidents, including a collision with the battleship Oklahoma in 1923, and a fire in 1927. She was also present at the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and was one of the few battleships to survive the attack without being sunk. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Nevada was repaired and sent to the Pacific Theater. She participated in several battles, including the Battle of Midway and the Battle of Guadalcanal. Nevada was also present at the surrender of Japan in 1945. After the war, Nevada was decommissioned and placed in reserve. She was eventually scrapped in 1948.
