Maruo is an overweight adult who is a member of the "Friend" organization in the anime series "20th Century Boys." He is a loyal friend and follower of Kenji, the leader of the group. Maruo is often the comic relief in the series, but he is also a capable fighter and strategist. He is a key member of the Friend organization and helps to bring about the downfall of the antagonist, Friend.
