Maria Kurenai is a sickly vampire who attends Cross Academy. She is a member of the Night Class, and her partner is Zero Kiryuu. Maria is a very kind and gentle person, but she can also be very strong and fierce when she needs to be. She is a very loyal friend, and she is always willing to help those in need. Maria's backstory is a very sad one. She was born into a family of vampires, but she was not accepted by them because she was sickly. They abandoned her, and she was left to fend for herself. She eventually found her way to Cross Academy, where she was taken in by the headmaster, Cross. Maria is a very complex character, and she is one of the most popular characters in the Vampire Knight series.
