Luke Cage

Meet Luke Cage, a.k.a. Power Man, one of the first black superheroes to headline his own comic book. After being framed for a crime he didn't commit, Luke was subjected to an experimental procedure that gave him superhuman strength and unbreakable skin. Once he was freed, he became a "hero for hire" and used his powers to help people in need. He later teamed up with fellow superhero Iron Fist to form the crime-fighting duo Power Man and Iron Fist. In 2005, Luke Cage was added to the lineup of the New Avengers, and he has since appeared in various Avengers titles. He has also led a group of reformed supervillains called the Thunderbolts. The character has been adapted into various forms of media, including the Netflix television series Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and The Defenders.
