Leon Soryu is a 16-year-old boy who is a member of the Cardfight!! Vanguard team, Team Asteroid. He is a skilled cardfighter and is known for his aggressive playstyle. Leon is also a bit of a hothead, but he is also a loyal friend and teammate. Leon's first appearance in the series is in the episode "The Battle Begins!". In this episode, Leon is introduced as a member of Team Asteroid, who are competing in the Cardfight!! Vanguard World Championship. Leon is paired against Aichi Sendou, the protagonist of the series, in the first round of the tournament. Leon wins the match, but he is impressed by Aichi's skills and determination.
