L Lawliet, also known as L, is a mysterious and enigmatic detective who is the world's greatest criminal profiler. He communicates with law enforcement agencies only through his handler/assistant, Watari. L observes and spies on the activities of Light Yagami, a high school genius who is the infamous serial killer "Kira". L attempts to expose Light's true identity, and the two engage in a psychological mind game of cat and mouse.
