Goku was born on Earth as a Saiyan, a race of warriors with incredible strength and power. When he was a child, he was sent to Earth to destroy it, but he soon became friends with the inhabitants and decided to protect the planet instead. He trained hard to become stronger and eventually became a Super Saiyan, a legendary transformation that granted him immense power and speed.
