Superman is an alien from the planet Krypton, born with the name Kal-El. His parents, Jor-El and Lara, knew that their planet was about to explode and sent their only son to Earth in a small spaceship. Kal-El landed in Smallville, Kansas, where he was found and raised by the kindly farmers, Martha and Jonathan Kent.
