Kakeru KURAHARA

Kakeru Kurahashi is a university student who is also a track and field athlete. He is a stoic person who is very focused on his training. He is also very poor and has to work part-time to support himself. One day, he meets a group of track and field runners who are training for the Hakone Ekiden, a long-distance relay race. Kakeru is impressed by their passion and determination, and he decides to join them. He trains hard with the group, and he eventually becomes one of the best runners in the country. The Hakone Ekiden is a grueling race, but Kakeru and his teammates are determined to win. They run their hearts out, and they eventually cross the finish line in first place. Kakeru is overjoyed, and he realizes that he has found a new family with his teammates.
