King Edward VI, the son of King Henry VIII and Jane Seymour, was only nine years old when he ascended to the throne of England in 1547. Despite his young age, Edward was a bright and curious child who showed great interest in politics and governance. He was known for his intelligence and his dedication to the Protestant faith, which he had been raised in since his father's break with the Catholic Church.
