John Bull
John Bull is a jolly, middle-aged man who represents the United Kingdom. He is often depicted as a stout, country-dwelling fellow who is always up for a good time. John Bull first appeared in satirical works in the early 18th century and quickly became a popular figure. He was often used to represent English liberty in opposition to revolutionaries. John Bull remained popular throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, but his popularity began to decline after the First World War.
