Hinoe is a youkai who is known for her blinding bangs. She is a smoker and has an androphobia. She is a character in the anime Natsume's Book of Friends. Hinoe was once a human woman who was very beautiful. She was so beautiful that many men fell in love with her. However, Hinoe did not love any of them. She was only interested in women. One day, a group of men tried to force themselves on Hinoe. She fought back, but she was outnumbered and overpowered. The men beat her and left her for dead. Hinoe's spirit was very angry. She vowed to never let any man touch her again. She changed her appearance so that she would be less attractive to men. She grew long, blinding bangs to cover her face. She also started smoking to make herself less appealing. Hinoe became a youkai and lived in the forest. She met Natsume, who was a human boy who could see youkai. Natsume helped Hinoe to overcome her androphobia. He showed her that not all men were bad. Hinoe eventually fell in love with Natsume. They got married and had a family.
