Goodman Beaver is a naive and optimistic character who is oblivious to the corruption and degeneration around him. He is a vehicle for social satire and pop culture parody. His stories are filled with visual gags and pointed, adult-oriented satire. The best-known of the Goodman Beaver stories is "Goodman Goes Playboy" (1962), a satire on the hedonistic lifestyle of Hugh Hefner.
