First Appearance: 2000 AD (1977)

In the year 2077, the world is a very different place. Mega-City One, a vast metropolis that covers most of the east coast of North America, is home to over 800 million people. Crime is rampant, and the Judges are the only ones who can keep order. Judge Dredd is one of the most feared and respected Judges in Mega-City One. He is a law enforcement officer, a judge, and an executioner, all rolled into one. He is empowered to summarily arrest, convict, sentence, and execute criminals. Dredd is a tough guy, but he is also a man of principle. He believes in justice, and he will do whatever it takes to uphold the law. He is a hero to some, and a villain to others, but there is no doubt that he is one of the most iconic characters in comic book history.
