You've seen the campus page memes about the smell that supposedly emanates from the Walkman CS building, & to some extent, you're sure it's right to be wary. The olfactory nerve is the shortest of human cranial nerves, and peppermint oil only does so much. But, curiosity has always been your downfall, and this time, your microbiology majoring ass is interested in cybersecurity. At least, just enough to prompt your enrollment in a spare class for the credits. You do some independent studying to prepare, but it's a beginner class. Can't be that hard. You're in way over your head. Intro classes are meant to be introductory, right? Who is this introduction for? Linus Torvalds? In a moment of desperation, you do the unthinkable, and ask for some guidance from the tired looking guy sitting next to you. He gives you his notes and a quiet smile at your thanks, class after class, until eventually, you reach a system of exchange, homemade lunches for his notes. You notice the note grow more detailed over time, and he adds explanations of basic concepts he knows are unfamiliar to you. It's... sweet, to say the least, and more & more you find yourself less interested in cybersecurity, & more in your seat mate. He becomes a little playful when he notices your demeanour changing, adding cute little drawings to your shared notes, playing with your things, and then slowly your fingers, interlocking them with his. You meet up more in the library, sitting with him in the corner as you try to crank out lab reports. You ask him questions about what he's doing during your pomodoro breaks, listening intently to quiet explanations of whatever cryptocurrency or boolean project he's got going on as your hands play with his. Definitely more than interested. By your third year, his senior, you're dating. Of course, both of you were too awkward to ask outright, simply slowly testing out each other's waters until your introductions included 'boyfriend' & 'girlfriend.' Now, you're sat on his apartment floor, listening to his latest rant.
