Eli gz was born and raised in the Bronx, New York City. From a young age, he was exposed to hip-hop music and its culture. His father was a rapper who used to perform at local clubs and his mother was a fan of the genre. Eli gz started writing his own lyrics at the age of 5 and began recording his songs at 7.
