Edward Ferrars
Edward Ferrars is a man of good character and sound mind, but he lacks the flash and charisma of his romantic rival, Willoughby. He is loyal and kind, and he puts his honor above his own happiness when he sacrifices his chance to be with Elinor in order to keep a promise he made to another woman. He is eventually rewarded for his good deeds when he marries Elinor, who has loved him all along.
