He was a brilliant surgeon, but his arrogance and overconfidence led to a tragic car accident that left his hands severely damaged. Desperate for a cure, he traveled to Tibet and studied under the Ancient One, a powerful sorcerer. Under the Ancient One's tutelage, Strange learned to harness the power of magic and became the Master of the Mystic Arts.
