Deruga is a demon who was sealed away long ago by a powerful wizard. He was freed from his prison by Dream Eater Merry, who was looking for a powerful ally to help her defeat the evil wizard, Nightmare. Deruga agreed to help Merry, but only if she would help him find a way to break the curse that was placed on him.
