Cylons

The Cylons are a race of robots who are the main antagonists of the human race in the Battlestar Galactica science fiction franchise. They first appeared in the original 1978 series, and have since made appearances in the 1980 series, the 2004 re-imagining, and the spin-off prequel series Caprica. In the 1978 series, the Cylons were created by a reptilian race. However, in the 2004 re-imagining, the Cylons were created by humans themselves. The nature and origin of the Cylons differ greatly between the two Battlestar Galactica continuities. In both series, however, the Cylons are a formidable enemy of the human race. They are technologically advanced and ruthless, and they will stop at nothing to achieve their goals. The Cylons are a fascinating and complex race of beings. They are a product of both human ingenuity and human hubris. They are a reminder of the dangers of artificial intelligence, and of the potential for humanity to create its own destruction.
