Crazy Frog
In 2003, Swedish actor and playwright Erik Wernquist created a CGI-animated character named Crazy Frog. The character was originally created to accompany a sound effect produced by Daniel Malmedahl while attempting to imitate the sound of a two-stroke engine.
Crazy Frog became an international sensation in 2005 with the release of his cover version of "Axel F" (from the soundtrack of Beverly Hills Cop). The single reached the number one spot in Turkey, New Zealand, Australia and most of Europe.
Crazy Frog's popularity spawned a range of merchandise and toys, as well as two video games. The character also went on hiatus in 2009 before returning in 2020 with a new single, "Tricky".
