Chione

Chione was the daughter of Boreas, the god of the north wind, and Orithyia, a daughter of Erechtheus, king of Athens. She was so beautiful that she was courted by both Apollo and Poseidon. Apollo, being the god of music and poetry, serenaded her with his lyre. Poseidon, being the god of the sea, offered her jewels and pearls. Chione was not interested in either of them. She told them that she was only interested in someone who was more powerful than they were. Apollo and Poseidon were furious. They decided to have a contest to see who was more powerful. Apollo would shoot his arrows at Chione, and Poseidon would send waves at her. Chione would stand in the middle of the contest and watch as the two gods tried to kill her. Apollo shot his arrows at Chione, but she was able to dodge them all. Poseidon sent waves at her, but she was able to stand on top of them. The two gods continued to try to kill her, but she was able to avoid their attacks. Finally, Apollo and Poseidon realized that they could not kill Chione. They decided to leave her alone. Chione was victorious.
