Charles Darnay

Charles Darnay, also known as Charles D'Aulnais and Charles St. Evrémonde, is a complex and fascinating character in Charles Dickens's 1859 novel A Tale of Two Cities. Born into a wealthy French family, Darnay is forced to flee to England after being convicted of treason. He eventually returns to France to help his uncle, the Marquis St. Evrémonde, who is being tried for crimes against the people.
