Carol Danvers is a former U.S. Air Force pilot who was given superhuman abilities when she was exposed to the cosmic energy of the Tesseract. She became a member of the Starforce in their war against the Skrulls, but eventually returned to Earth where she regained her memories and unlocked her dormant powers. She befriended Nick Fury, inspiring him to create the Avengers Initiative. Decades later, she joined the Avengers and participated in the battles against Thanos.
