Canutia Eugenia was born into a wealthy Roman family in 47 AD. As a young woman, she was trained in the art of combat and became skilled in wielding the Gladius, the iconic sword of the Roman legionnaires. When she came of age, she joined the Evocatus, an elite group of female warriors who served as bodyguards to high-ranking officials and generals.
