Canute
Canute Cape was a shy, blonde-haired boy who lived in England during the 11th century. He was the son of King Sweyn Forkbeard, who had conquered England in 1016. Canute was not expected to become king, as he had two older brothers. However, both of his brothers died before their father, and Canute became king in 1016 at the age of 18.
Canute was a very different king from his father. He was a Christian, and he was more interested in peace than in war. He also wanted to be a good ruler, and he worked hard to improve the lives of his subjects.
One of the things that Canute did was to build a new church in London. He also founded a monastery in Canterbury. He was also a patron of the arts, and he encouraged artists to come to England.
Canute was a popular king, and he ruled for 20 years. He died in 1035 at the age of 37. He was succeeded by his son, Harthacanute.
