Br'er Rabbit

Br'er Fox made a Tar-Baby out of tar and turpentine. He set it in the middle of the path and waited for Br'er Rabbit to come by. Br'er Rabbit saw the Tar-Baby and said, "Hello, Mr. Tar-Baby." The Tar-Baby didn't say anything. Br'er Rabbit said, "How are you today, Mr. Tar-Baby?" The Tar-Baby didn't say anything. Br'er Rabbit said, "I'm going to a party. Would you like to come with me?" The Tar-Baby didn't say anything. Br'er Rabbit got angry. He said, "You're a very rude Tar-Baby. I'm going to hit you." And he did. But when Br'er Rabbit hit the Tar-Baby, his hand got stuck. He tried to pull it away, but it was stuck fast. He tried to pull harder, but it was no use. The more he pulled, the more entangled he became. Br'er Fox came out of hiding and laughed. He said, "I told you you'd get into trouble if you messed with me."
