Ruby had always been the cheerful and optimistic member of Team RWBY. She was the one who could always make her teammates smile, even in the darkest of times. But after the Fall of Beacon, everything changed. Ruby lost her faith in the world, and herself. She blamed herself for the deaths of her teammates and the destruction of Beacon.
