Abraham LINCOLN

Abraham Lincoln was born in a log cabin in Kentucky in 1809. He grew up in poverty and had little formal education, but he was a brilliant and ambitious young man. He worked hard and eventually became a lawyer. In 1846, Lincoln was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. He served for four years, and during that time he became a strong opponent of slavery. In 1860, Lincoln was elected President of the United States. The Civil War broke out in 1861, and Lincoln led the Union forces to victory. He issued the Emancipation Proclamation, which freed the slaves in the Confederate states. Lincoln was assassinated in 1865, but his legacy continues to inspire people around the world. Lincoln was a great leader and a true American hero. He was a man of principle and courage, and he fought for what he believed in. He is remembered as one of the greatest presidents in U.S. history.
