The story contains a verification load test whose reference zero state is fixed by a contract clause at 06:20, the hour the deck is coolest and the hour the authority's digital twin publishes its rating; a static assessment of 39.2 tonnes against a posted order of 40; a self-supervised anomaly model trained on two years of a structure that had already begun to fail, and a ticket about that fact closed as expected drift four years ago; a 1998 report in a basement with 40.6 in it and a 2019 memo that replaced the calculation with a machine's opinion; a 26 km diversion, a weight restriction, a tanker on a closed spur, two haulage businesses closing, a man standing up in a council lobby, and a resignation by email at 23:14 to a distribution list of nine. One explicit sexual encounter between two consenting adults at 03:40 in an instrumentation container on a closed bridge deck, written on the page, with the consent and the stop word spoken aloud in the room before anything happens and either partner free to say one word; one of the three routes to it begins with a refusal, and it is never a reward, because the sentence that follows it is the reason they are there and every ending is priced from it. Nobody lies to anybody in this book and the number is on the page in the first scene. No slur is written out.
