Yuubari

Yuubari is a light cruiser of the Imperial Japanese Navy. She was the lead ship of her class, and was named after the city of Yuubari in Hokkaido. Yuubari was laid down on 16 November 1917, and was launched on 23 March 1919. She was commissioned into the Imperial Japanese Navy on 25 September 1920. Yuubari served in the Second Sino-Japanese War and the Pacific War. She was sunk by American aircraft on 16 July 1944 during the Battle of the Philippine Sea. Yuubari was a popular ship among her crew, and was known for her cheerful and optimistic attitude. She was also known for her beautiful appearance, and was often called the "Princess of the Fleet".
