The story begins with Rikuo Nura, a high school student who is also the descendant of the great Nurarihyon, the head of the Nura Clan, a powerful group of yokai. Rikuo is not like his father, however, and he does not want to be involved in the world of yokai. He tries to live a normal life, but his yokai blood often gets the better of him.
