Nurikabe Kiitaro is a young boy who lives in a small village in Japan. He is a bit of a troublemaker, and he loves to play pranks on the other villagers. One day, Kiitaro is playing in the forest when he meets a youkai. The youkai is a kind and gentle creature, and Kiitaro is immediately drawn to it. The youkai tells Kiitaro that it is a nurikabe, a type of youkai that can shapeshift into a wall. The youkai also tells Kiitaro that it is lonely, and it asks Kiitaro to be its friend.
Kiitaro agrees to be the youkai's friend, and the two of them become inseparable. The youkai teaches Kiitaro about the world of youkai, and Kiitaro teaches the youkai about the world of humans. They have many adventures together, and they always have each other's backs.
One day, the youkai is captured by a group of humans. The humans are planning to use the youkai for their own evil purposes. Kiitaro knows that he has to save his friend, so he sets out on a journey to find the youkai and rescue it.
