Nazca Space Symphony Maetel: Ginga Tetsudou 999 Gaiden is a Japanese anime film directed by Rintaro and written by Leiji Matsumoto. It is the sequel to the 1979 anime series Space Battleship Yamato and the 1980 film Space Battleship Yamato: The New Voyage. The film was released in Japan on March 11, 1984.
The film takes place in the year 2202, five years after the events of the original series. The Earth has been devastated by a nuclear war, and the few remaining humans live on a space colony called Andromeda. Maetel, the daughter of Captain Harlock, is on a quest to find the legendary planet Pluto, which is said to be the only planet that can sustain human life. Along the way, she meets a young boy named Tetsuro, who is also searching for Pluto. Together, they embark on a journey that will take them to the ends of the galaxy and beyond.
