Naofumi IWATANI

Naofumi Iwatani is an ordinary university student who is summoned to another world along with three other young men to become the world's Cardinal Heroes and fight the Waves of Catastrophe. He is armed with the Legendary Shield, the only defensive weapon, and is ridiculed by his fellow heroes and the people of the kingdom of Melromarc for his weak offensive capabilities. He is betrayed by the kingdom's princess Malty Melromarc and falsely accused of raping her, which results in him being ostracized and labeled as the "Shield Hero". Naofumi is later joined by Raphtalia, a demi-human slave girl who becomes his first and closest companion. Together, they travel the world and fight the Waves, facing many challenges along the way. Naofumi eventually becomes a powerful warrior and a skilled strategist, and he eventually earns the respect of his fellow heroes and the people of Melromarc.
