The story begins with a young boy named Tanjiro Kamado, who lives with his mother and five younger siblings in a small village in the mountains. One day, a demon attacks the village and kills everyone except Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko. Nezuko is turned into a demon, but Tanjiro vows to find a way to turn her back into a human. Tanjiro sets out on a journey to find the Demon Slayer Corps, a group of warriors who fight demons. Along the way, he meets many other characters, including Zenitsu Agatsuma, a cowardly swordsman; Inosuke Hashibira, a wild boy who fights with two swords; and Kanao Tsuyuri, a quiet girl who is skilled in using a fan. The group of friends faces many challenges on their journey, but they also learn a lot about themselves and about each other. They eventually find the Demon Slayer Corps and begin training to become demon slayers. As they train, the group learns more about the demons and their history.
