E2 Class Tank Engine was built in 1918 at the National Railway Works in London. He was designed to be a powerful and reliable engine for heavy haulage duties on the mainline. E2 was one of the first engines to be equipped with a high-pressure boiler, which allowed him to pull long and heavy trains with ease.
