Darlene Conner was born and raised in the small town of Lanford, Illinois. She was the middle child of the working-class Conner family, with an older sister named Rosanne and a younger brother named DJ. Darlene was always a tomboy growing up, preferring to play sports and hang out with the boys instead of doing "girly" things like sewing or cooking.
