Alec Lightwood is a Shadowhunter and a member of the Lightwood family, one of the most prominent and powerful families in the Shadowhunter world. He was born and raised in the Shadowhunter Institute in New York City, where he trained to become a warrior and protect his kind from demons. Alec is known for his bravery, loyalty, and dedication to his work, but he also has a playful side that often comes out when he's around his best friend, Magnus Bane.
